Protecting your employees from harassment

 

26 October 2024 – New law asking employers to take steps to prevent sexual harassment – Legally enforceable

On this date the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 will come into force for England, Scotland and Wales. The amendment signals a change for employers, who will have a specified duty placed on them to take measures to prevent the sexual harassment of their employees.

The commencement date for the law is 26 October 2024, meaning that employers will need to demonstrate they have effective systems and monitoring in place from this date.
