Western Region Dinner
The Western Region Craft Bakers Association held their biannual Awards and Dinner Dance on the evening of Saturday 9th March at the Thurlestone Hotel, Salcombe in Devon.
The CBA President Patrick Wilkins joined the top table. Nick Harris CBA Chairman presented a bouquet of flowers to Jackie Tree for her hard work and invited all in attendance to come to the CBA Business Day in London on 5th June 2024.
A drinks and photo reception gave everyone a chance to catch up with fellow bakers, allied traders, organisers and friends before sitting down to a 4 course dinner followed by coffee and petit fours.
Generous donations were given of craft baked rolls from the Bake House in Salcombe, sorbet and petit fours from Salcombe Dairy. Also chocolate donated by Barry Callebaut for a dessert of finest Belgian chocolate mousse with textures of raspberries which gave the meal that very special touch that everyone enjoyed.
Chris Wreford being the Master of Ceremonies kept the evening on track with Grace, Toasts, Guest Speaker our prize draws, and awards, all achieved before dancing to wonderful entertainment by Simon Hawkins of SJH Entertainment who encouraged many on the dance floor till after midnight.
The awards presented were to Trainee of the year 23/24, Emma Milner of Friary Mill, Plymouth and the Western Region Hall of Fame continues to grow with this year being awarded to Mr Bob Burns MBE of Burns the Bread, Glastonbury.
President Michael Astill and wife Jennifer did a fantastic job organising the weekend even hosting a cream tea for early arrivals on the Friday afternoon.
Our silent auction raised well over a thousand pounds and will be presented to the Salcombe Life Boat.
Many other wonderful prizes were also won and given out to our guests on the evening.
The Western Region continues to be well supported and an excellent weekend was had by all
